The Role of Zinc in Plants
Zinc is a crucial micronutrient that acts as a catalyst in many enzymatic systems within plants. Zinc-containing enzymes are vital for starch synthesis and nitrogen metabolism. Additionally, zinc regulates the synthesis of the amino acid tryptophan, which stimulates the production of auxin—an essential growth hormone.

Zinc Availability in Soil
In many soils, zinc is bound to organic complexes, making it unavailable to plants. High soil pH significantly reduces zinc solubility and uptake. Furthermore, excessive phosphorus fertilization can induce zinc deficiency, even in soils with adequate total zinc content.

Crops Sensitive to Zinc Deficiency
Zinc deficiency commonly affects a wide range of crops including wheat, maize, cotton, rice, barley, oats, beans, leafy vegetables, citrus, grapes, apples, and pears.

Symptoms of Zinc Deficiency
Typical signs include shortened internodes and chlorosis in young leaves. Yellow spotting may appear, and in fruit trees, bud, shoot, and leaf development for the following season may be impaired. Premature leaf drop, delayed growth, and disrupted cell expansion are also frequently observed.

Recommended Dosage and Application Timing – Docto-Zinc 15

Wheat, Barley, Oats, Soybean, Peanut, Corn, Bean, Pea, Rice, Sorghum, Cotton, Sugar Beet Soil: 200–400 g/da
Foliar: 100–200 g/da
Seed: 200 g/100 kg seed
Apply annually before planting until deficiency is corrected. For preventive use, repeat every 3 years. Foliar applications should begin as soon as sufficient leaf growth occurs. Apply before symptoms appear.
Citrus Foliar: 100–200 g/da Apply to new spring shoots. Repeat if necessary. Do not apply during flowering or immediately before harvest.
Olive Foliar: 100 g/da Apply at bud break in early spring and repeat after 3–4 weeks.
Apple, Pear Foliar: 100 g/da Apply before flower bud burst and repeat after harvest.
Apricot, Peach, Plum Foliar: 100 g/da
Soil: 0.5–1 kg/tree (based on tree size)
Apply after harvest. Do not exceed recommended doses to avoid leaf burn. In severe deficiency, apply regularly using sprayer, injector, or watering can.
Walnut, Cherry Foliar: 50–200 g/da Apply immediately after flowering. Repeat twice at 2–3 week intervals.

Application Timing
