Soil-Applied Iron Fertilizer

Guaranteed Quality

Hunter Fe is manufactured under Doktor Tarsa’s quality assurance system and complies with the standards set by the European Fertilizer Regulation. The product is produced in accordance with TS EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System and meets international quality requirements.

Product Overview

Hunter Fe is a high-quality iron chelate (EDDHA-Fe 6%) specially designed for soil application. It effectively prevents and corrects iron deficiency in a wide range of crops, especially in alkaline and calcareous soils where iron availability is limited.

The product contains a high proportion of the ortho-ortho isomer (o-o EDDHA), which ensures stability and efficiency under high pH soil conditions. Its microgranular form dissolves easily and distributes uniformly in soil, making it ideal for fertigation systems and manual soil incorporation.

Role of Iron in Plants

Iron is a key component of various enzymatic systems and is essential for:

  • Chlorophyll synthesis and photosynthesis

  • Energy transfer and respiration

  • Nitrogen fixation and protein formation

  • Promoting deep green leaf color and improved crop vigor

Iron deficiency manifests first in young leaves due to its immobility within the plant, typically seen as interveinal chlorosis. In cereals, this may appear as alternating yellow and green stripes along the leaves.

Iron Availability in Soil

Although total iron content in soil may be high, its plant-available form is often limited—especially in neutral to alkaline soils. Conditions such as high calcium carbonate levels, heavy metal contamination, or excess manganese can worsen iron deficiency symptoms.

Crops Sensitive to Iron Deficiency

Hunter Fe is especially beneficial for:

  • Fruit trees (apple, pear, peach, plum)

  • Citrus fruits

  • Vegetables

  • Field crops

  • Ornamentals and floriculture

Note: Application rates may vary depending on soil analysis and crop condition. Please consult your local agricultural advisor for optimal results.

Application Areas

HUNTER Fe is used to prevent iron deficiency in a wide range of crops including fruit trees (especially citrus, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot), vineyards, vegetables, and ornamental plants.

Iron deficiency may occur not only due to low iron levels in the soil, but also due to reduced availability of iron in alkaline (high pH) soils, where iron uptake by plants is limited.

Method of Application

HUNTER Fe should be applied only through the soil.

Dig a circular trench approximately 15–20 cm deep under the canopy of the tree (at the projection of outer branches). Apply the recommended dose either dry or diluted with water into the trench, then cover with soil and irrigate thoroughly. The product is absorbed by the roots and translocated to all parts of the plant.

Time of Application

Apply HUNTER Fe at the first signs of iron deficiency.
The best time for application is in early spring before bud break.
For better efficiency, the recommended dose can be split into two applications:

  • Half before bud break

  • The other half after flowering, during early fruit development

Compatibility

HUNTER Fe is usually applied alone, but it can be mixed with other solid or liquid fertilizers.
If mixed with other agrochemicals, a jar test for compatibility is strongly recommended before full-scale application.
