Prof.Dr. Mazhar \u00d6ZMAN<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Born on December 15, 1929<\/strong>, in Istanbul.<\/p>

Graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1954<\/strong>.<\/p>

Became a General Surgery Specialist in 1964<\/strong>, establishing pathology laboratories for the radiotherapy (oncology) and orthopedic clinics, as well as the pathology lab for the ophthalmology clinic.<\/p>

Earned his Associate Professorship in General Surgery in 1972<\/strong>.<\/p>

Founded the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1979<\/strong> and became a full Professor of General Surgery in 1980<\/strong>, also serving as the faculty\u2019s dean.<\/p>

Retired voluntarily in 1980<\/strong> following the closure of the faculty. In 1982<\/strong>, he contributed to the development of private hospital management and played a pioneering role in founding many hospitals.<\/p>

While practicing his profession, his greatest hobby\u2014flowers\u2014was never neglected. On overseas trips, while his friends returned with electronic devices, Mr. Mazhar\u2019s luggage was always filled with vegetable and flower seeds.<\/p>

Noticing that the seeds he planted in his modest greenhouse germinated slowly and with low rates, he became curious about what was missing. This curiosity opened new horizons for him and Turkish agriculture.<\/p>

Mr. Mazhar said:<\/p>

\u201cOne day, we were in Switzerland. There were very beautiful, colorful flowers. We held a flowerpot, but it was very light. We asked if it was soil. They said it wasn\u2019t soil, it was peat. We brought it to Turkey and tested it in our greenhouse behind the house. Within a week, the flower seeds we planted had sprouted.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>

Following this experiment, Mr. Mazhar decided to introduce this product to Turkey and became the first to bring peat to the country. This marked the planting of the first seeds of Doktor Tarsa. The seed planted by Mr. Mazhar has since grown into a great tree with deep roots.<\/p>

We remember him with gratitude and reverence for his contributions to Turkish agriculture.<\/p>
